Our trip to Beijing and Xi’An: Part 3
Table of Contents
During our visit to Beijing, we explored several fascinating places including the Team Labs exhibition, which I found even more impressive than the one in Singapore due to its extensive installations like the obstacle course and crystal universe. We also visited Maliandao Tea Street, a haven for tea enthusiasts filled with tea shops and a massive mall dedicated to tea products, and concluded with a view of the iconic TV tower from a nearby bar, although we couldn’t enter due to its closing hours.

Team Labs
There are a couple of more interesting places that we visited in Beijing, but I haven’t talked about them yet. Firstly, it’s a team labs exhibition. Team Labs is in Singapore, in the ArtScience museum, and I love their Future World. It’s good for both kids and adults. Thus, it was quite an easy choice to check out the Beijing branch. Team Lab’s Beijing is located relatively close to the Pop Land so that you can visit both places simultaneously.
What can I say? Team Labs never disappoints - the exhibition is brilliant and stunning. To be honest, I enjoyed Beijing’s space more than Singapore’s.
Firstly, Beijing’s studio has more stuff in it. There is an easy, but entertaining obstacle course, a couple of crazy spaces with wall projections and optical illusions, and, obviously, the famous crystal universe.
In addition to that, I fell in love with a space with washable foam (the area name is something about clouds). It’s a totally crazy experience, and a unique chance to feel like a kid again.

Maliandao Tea Street
As a vivid tea drinker, I wanted to explore Beijing’s tea scene. After a quick research, I discovered the right place - Maliandao Tea Street. The place is truly a heaven for tea drinkers. Firstly, there is a huge shopping mall dedicated to tea ware and varieties of tea. I assume you may be able to find literally anything in these corridors. Surprisingly, shop assistants weren’t too annoying, so you may explore the place without being persuaded all the time.
Secondly, you should explore not only the shopping mall but the whole street. The street has plenty of authentic shops where you can find the right tea or teapot for yourself. At least, that’s what I did.
TV Tower
Lastly, the TV tower. The height scraper is very famous due to its unique shape and the park that surrounds it. The place is also located in Beijing’s CBD, so you’ll have plenty of places to explore. We decided to enjoy the view of the place from a nice bar that serves uniquely crafted cocktails and walk to the place after that.
Unfortunately, the entrance was already closed at the time we arrived, so we were able to enjoy the side view only:
