Terarosa Coffee House

Terarosa-View

On the third day of our 5 days itinerary, we started with a brisk morning walk in the area near the Terrarosa cafe. Since the place had not yet opened, we took the opportunity to explore surroundings. Just beside the cafe’s entrance, there is a lovely beach that is not only quite but also home to a wide variety of stray cats. It seemed like these felines have made this beach their habitat, giving it a unique charm. As we walked along the shore, the sight of a picturesque lighthouse standing.

After a short walk, we proceeded to Terrarosa for breakfast. Honestly speaking, I was positively surprised. The place is great not only because of food and coffee, but also due to the lovely vibe. Terrarosa is located in a small factory building with a small hallabon garden. The cafe unfolds as a serene haven where nature and modernity dance in harmony. Sunlight filters through expansive windows, casting a gentle glow on the natural wooden surfaces and stone accents that embrace the space. The minimalist design, with its clean lines and subtle hues, creates a tranquil canvas where indoor greenery adds a refreshing burst of life. Elegant, contemporary furnishings complete the scene, offering a chic yet cozy retreat for those seeking both beauty and comfort.

The cafe also has a small shop, where I bought a lovely cup with a Jeju motif. I would say Terrarosa is definitely a must-visit gem in Jeju.

Folk Village

FolkVillage-1

After breakfast, we proceeded to the west along the scenic road towards the Jeju Folk Village. This open-air museum is has a numerous recreated traditional buildings that depict life in old Jeju. As we walked through the village, we were able to explore replicas of traditional thatched-roof houses, barns and communal spaces.

But the Jeju Folk Village offers has other activities. Scattered throughout the site, there are several workshops where craftsmen demonstrate old techniques such as wood carving, pottery, weaving, and blacksmithing. The village also features a range of restaurants.

From there, we made our way to the Snoopy Garden.

Snoopy Garden

SnoopyGarden-1

I’m not a huge fan of Snoopy and don’t know much about the character’s story, the Snoopy Garden was a nice surprise to me. The place was more about enjoying the appearance of a well-kept garden with some mentions of the iconic cartoon dog. The garden itself is well designed, offering a tranquil atmosphere, lovely arranged flowers, and walking paths, perfect for a low-paced stroll.

The Snoopy Pavilion is filled with varous installations featuring Snoopy, Peanut characters in different scenarios. These displays depict Snoopy in different moods and activities: he’s napping on his iconic doghouse, hanging out with his pal Woodstock, or embarking on his adventures. Even without knowing the character, it was fun to see how the installations captured the Snoopy’s world.

Personally speaking, I mainly enjoy the garden with its scenic landscapes.

Lava Tube

LavaTube-1

The famous Jeju Lava Tube is located quite close to the Snoopy Garden, so it was our next stop. The lava tube is actually a very long cave formed by lava. The tube has a light backlight, so you should be careful walking there. In about 30-40 minutes, we walked to the end of the cave and back, enjoyed stalactites & stalagmites and left for the Bunker des Lumieres.

Bunker des Lumieres

The last stop for us before the stop for a night was the Bunker des Lumieres. It’s an art space where you can watch animated and projected paintings of different authors. If I’m not mistaken, during our visit we watched Van Goh’s and Wassily Kadinskiy’s paintings projected on the bunker’s walls. Even though we visited a similar show in Singapore, it was still an impressive performance. This place definitely would be in a must-see list for me.

The hotel

CoOp-Hotel-1

Lastly, we stopped by at Co-Op city hotel, which is just an ordinary 4 star hotel. The main hotel advantage is an astonishing view of Seongsan Ilchulbong.
